TOPIC : Use of ‘A’ and ‘An’
CONTENT : Use of ‘A’ and ‘An’- why ‘A’ is pronounced using the letter name instead of the sound
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to;
ENTRY BEHAVIOR : Pupils can identify and sound the Group 1-6 Consonant/vowel/consonant words
SET INDUCTION : The teachers uses the three-letter words songs to arouse the interest of the pupils
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES : Singing, storytelling, playway, gestures/demonstration,gestures, explanation and repetition
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS : Flash cards of words we can use ‘A’ for and words we can use ‘AN’ for, phonics sound chart, sentence strips showing words with ‘A’ or ‘AN’ appearing before them

PERIOD 1 AND 2: Using ‘A’ for words that begin with a consonant sound
