SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to;
ENTRY BEHAVIOR : Pupils can identify all Group 2 letter sounds
SET INDUCTION : The teachers uses the phonics songs of all the Group 3 letter sounds to arouse the interest of the pupils
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES : Singing, storytelling, playway, gestures/demonstration,gestures, explanation and repetition
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS : Flash cards, phonics sound chart, audiovisual clips of the phonics sound/song, pictures of objects with the Group 3 Phonics sounds, cardboards, crayons/coloured pencils, scissors, paper tape

1 | INTRODUCTION | The teacher introduces the topic as using sounds to say our letters. This is done using storyline g STORY Mrs Beverly bought some chilled drinks at the mall yesterday while shopping. On getting home, her kids; Richard and Jacob rushed at her and began searching her bag to see its contents. On both discovering she bought chilled drinks they both took one each, uncorked it and ‘g, g, g, g’ they gurgled it down their throats. ACTION The children pour water in their mouth and make a gurgling sound, ‘g, g, g, g’ o STORY This morning, Favour was the first to wake up and she rushed to the light switch to turn it off. But Sarah her elder sister still wanted some more sleep. To this effect, she got up angrily and switched off the light which made a ‘o o o o’ sound. ACTION The children pretend to turn a light switch on and off with fingers, saying, /o, o, o, o/ u STORY Obi's family goes out for a walk. It is very sunny, but Obi who is the last child of the family insists on taking his umbrella. Everyone laughed at him until big black clouds began to form in the sky. Up goes his umbrella /u, u, u, u/ and he stays nice and dry while every other person became wet ACTION The children pretend to put up an umbrella saying /u, u, u, u/. l STORY Sheila is celebrating her birthday today. There are lots of balloons and some lovely food. We ate and drank many packs of juice. Stephanie wins the "dance around the chair" game and gets a strawberry lollipop as a prize. She licks her lollipop /l, l, l, l/ ACTION f STORY Selene's family is at the beach. Selene and all the little kids are playing with a large inflatable fish that floats on water. Then they build a sandcastle and put flags on the four towers. Suddenly, they hear a strange sound-the plug has come out of the inflatable fish and all the air is escaping /f, f, f, f, f/ ACTION The children slowly bring their hands together like the fish deflating, making a continuous /f, f, f, f/ sound. b STORY Belinda went to play a baseball game with her friends at the sports center. She hits the ball with her bat ‘b, b, b, b’ ACTION The children pretend to hold a bat and hit a ball, saying /b, b, b, b/. | The pupils listen |
