Meaning of internet

Internet is global system of interconnected computer networks that use standard internet protocol suits to serve billions of users worldwide. Internet came from two words (Interconnection and Network)

ADVANTAGES OF INTERNET

• Communication: We can communicate in a second with a person who is sitting in the other part of the world via internet such as e-mail to establish a global friendship, share thoughts.

• Information: Information is the biggest advantages of internet. Any kind of information on any topic is available on the internet. There is a huge amount of information available on the internet for every subject known to man use search engine such as Google and yahoo.

• Entertainment: Through internet we can download games, and visit chat rooms. Chat rooms are popular because users can meet new and interesting people .Music, hobbies, news and more can be found and shared on the internet.

• Services: Many services are now provided on the internet such as online banking, job seeking, and purchasing tickets through internet.

• E-commerce:  Through internet, business activities (buying and selling) and other business related information can be transfer across the globe via internet.

DISADVANTAGES OF INTERNET

• Computer virus

• Pornography 

• It waste a lot of time

• High rate of crime ( cyber crime) 

SERACH ENGINE

Meaning of search engine

Search engine is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web (www). 

Search engine is a website that collects and organizes content from all over the internet .Those wishing to locate something would enter a query about what they like to find and the search engine provides links to content that matches what  they want.

The search engine results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as search engine results pages (SERPs). 

For example , if you want to search for the “meaning of  Computer “ what you need  to do is to type what is computer in search engine and it will display all the meanings of computer on the internet.

• It is used for chatting and instant messages
