TOPIC: STEPS / GUIDELINES FOR HOUSE MAINTENANCE

There are some guidelines for house maintenance for all functional materials and equipments. These are as follows:

1. Select detergents and materials for cleaning particular areas of the house. For example broom for ceiling and detergent for washing concrete floor.
2. Supply appropriate polish for maintaining the furniture and floor of areas of the house. For example, appropriate polish should be used for polishing ceramic tiles.
3. Use appropriate equipment for cleaning and maintain household materials .For example, use vacuum cleaner for cleaning rug, Iron sponge for washing cooking utensils, foam and soft sponge for cleaning plates and brush for cleaning terrazzo floor.
4. Use appropriate chemical solutions for dry-cleaning rugs. Use dry and soft brush for cleaning upholstered chairs and seats.
5. Switch off electrical appliance such as radio, television, iron, refrigerator, fan while cleaning any of the rooms.
6. Protect the nose with a mouse and the hand with gloves while cleaning any part of the house and its surrounding.
7. Always use a dustbin to dispose of refuse and waste in the house.
8. Remove empty cans and pour away dirty water in the surrounding to prevent mosquitoes from breeding
9. Always keep the foot mat at the entrance of the hose and kitchen to prevent dust and dirt.

Procedures for Maintenance�

1. Rooms should be kept clean all the time.
2. All windows should be opened to provide good ventilation
3. Rooms should be swept daily.
4. The walls should be brushed weekly.
5. Put fresh flowers if necessary.
6. The bed in the bedroom should be made daily.
7. The furniture should be polished occasionally.
8. The toilets and bathrooms should be kept clean by washing.
9. The kitchen and store areas should be kept clean all the time.
