Marriage (Gen.2:22-25, Eph 5:21-31)
Meaning of marriage:
Marriage is the coming together or union of a man and a woman .It is the union between the two of then that make them husband and wife. God Himself ordained marriages for man and woman by creating them to live together as husband and wife. .The two become one body in marriage (Gen .2:24).Therefore ,a man leaves his mother ,father and clings to his wife ,and they become one flesh.
FUNCTIONS OF MARRIAGE
There are three important reasons why God wants man and woman to come together as husband and wife .God wants and woman to come together for. Functions of marriage are:
Companionship: God in creating man and woman is for the two of then to be together as husband and wife. They do this by becoming companions or friends. They have close, personal and intimate relationship with each other. They play together as pleasant; they are to help each other as helpmate.
Procreation: Procreation is to bring new life into bring .God gave human beings the power to share in His creative activity by giving them the ability to bring new life into being .God did not this when He said to Adam “Being fruitful and multiply. Husband and wife are given the power to procreate by bringing forth children into the world.
Responsibilities: The greatest responsibility of the husband and wife is for husband and wife to be faithful to each other .The husband is faithful when he refuses to have sex with other woman apart from his wife .And, the wife is also faithful when she refuses to have sex with other men apart from her husband.
THINGS INVENTED BY MAN
The way in which human beings share in God creative activities is by developing the natural resources of the earth for the all mankind.
Things invented by man or things made by man are called inventions while things made by God are called creation.
Things made or invented by man are as followed:
Man has therefore made use of this creative abilities or talents, given to him by God, to control and harness the natural resources of the earth for the benefit of mankind.
