Who is God? /Supreme Being

Who is God?

God is the Supreme Being because He alone created the world and human beings. It is the Bible that helps us to know the supremacy of God (Genesis 1:1) .In the beginning God created heaven and earth .In Jeremiah 10:12, the Bible also states .It is He who made the earth by His Power 

Names of God in different Nigerian Language

All the various tribes in Nigeria believe in God .Everyone believes that God is the Supreme Being who created the world, and man. Therefore, all the various tribes have their own name for God.

ATTRIBUTES OF GOD

Attributes of God means the nature, quality or characteristics of God. God has many attributes as a Supreme Being .The attributes of God include:

1. God is the sovereign Creator.
2. God is Omnipotent 
3. God is Omniscient
4. God is Omnipresent.
5. God is Invisible
6. God is Love
7. God is holy

God is the sovereign Creator: A sovereign mean a supreme ruler. God is sovereign Creator because it is He who brought the world in which we live in into being. He rules over the world because the world belongs to Him. He alone has the authority and control over it. In Genesis chapter 1 and 2, the Bible tells us how God created the world. In beginning there was nothing and God spoke and things formed .Let there be light; and there was light.

God is Omnipotent: This mean all powerful. God is Omnipotent because He is all powerful .He is the greatest of all the power in this world .In Psalm 48:1, the Bible states: Great is the Lord and greatly be praised. By His power, He created the world. By His power, He control the world and takes cares good of everything in the world

God is Omniscient: This means He see everything .God is Omniscient because He sees everything in the world. He sees all that is happening in the world .Nothing is hidden from Him. He knows everything .He alone has the fullness of wisdom, understanding and knowledge .Isaiah 11:2.

God is Omnipresent: This means being everywhere at all time. God is Omnipresent because He is everywhere at the same time. He is in heave and at same time He is on earth. God told Jonah to and preach to the people of Nineveh, but Jonah ran away thinking that he could escape from God. But God saw him at the place where he had gone to hide.

God is Invisible: This means we cannot see Him with our eyes. God is invisible because we cannot see Him with our eyes .We cannot see God with our eyes because He is a spirit .In John 4:24 the Bible states “God is spirit and those who worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and truth.

God is love: This means to care for someone. God is love because He cares for us .God cares for us because He has given us everything we need. Hegives us wisdom, understanding .Above all, God is love because He has given us salvation so that we might not perish but have eternal life after we die. John 3:16(God so love the world that He gave us His only begotten son so that whoever believes in him might not perish but have eternal life.

God is Holy: This is mean to be righteous: God is holy because He is righteous .There is no sin Him. In Isaiah 6:3, the Bible says: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.
