Video Learning Notes

Students learned that the speed of an object is related to its energy: faster objects have more energy. They used evidence from investigations measuring how fast objects move and observed the effects of that energy. Students practiced scientific skills including asking questions, planning and conducting investigations, collecting and analyzing data, constructing explanations, and communicating their understanding using models and discussions.

Learning Goals

  • Ask questions and define problems based on observations or information from investigations or texts about moving objects.
  • Plan and conduct descriptive investigations to observe and measure the speed of objects and relate it to their energy.
  • Use tools such as timers and rulers to collect measurements of object speed.
  • Collect and record observations and measurements as evidence to support explanations.
  • Construct explanations using evidence to describe how the speed of an object relates to its energy.
